Location: Mi`kmaq Child Development Centre Halifax, NS
Salary: As per Provincial pay scale
Employment Terms: Full Time: 40 hours per week
Reports To: Daycare Director
General Description:
The Mi’kmaw Child Development Centre is centrally located in the urban Indigenous community of Halifax and is looking for an Early Childhood Educator
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with implementing activities which reflect the needs / interests of the child
- Ensure all health, medical and safety needs of the child/ children are documented.
- Support children’s social, mental, physical and spiritual strengths and needs.
- Build and maintain a positive work relationship with parents
- Build and maintain a positive work relationship with staff
- Adhere to all Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre/ MCDC policies
Qualifications & Experience;
- Early childhood certification/ diploma or degree.
- First Aid & CPR (Child)/WHIMIS Certificate
- Non-Violence Crisis Intervention and Prevention Certificate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to build strong positive relationships with parents, children and staff.
- Must provide a vulnerable sector check/ child abuse registrar upon hiring
- Indigenous Ancestry Is an asset, please self-identify
